200HRS YOGA THERAPY TEACHER TRAINING COURSE AT MYSORE YOGA THERAPY ACADEMY is a special foundation course for yoga teachers. It is designed to help the teachers work with participants who seek help to deal with constitutional health ailments such as spinal issues, hypertension, joint pain, etc. As a Yoga teacher, equipped with the teachings, this course can help them experience a holistic yoga class where their basic therapeutic demands can be met. Students will be able to customise the class based on the health status of the participants. This course will help the students revisit and reignite the basic foundations of what Yoga is for the mankind, with Philosophical studies, Anatomy engagement, role of Ayurveda in Yoga, Asana interventions and Pranayama practice to bring more awareness to each participants needs.
Our 200-hour Yoga Therapy Course is an important step to take for all those who are even slightly inquisitive about the science of Yoga Therapy. You will get an insight into the disorders that are commonly rampant in the modern lifestyle of most of the population and how to approach each issue with awareness. Once you have completed the course, you will have all the required skills to create a therapeutic yoga class based on the subjects you’ve been trained in and guide the individuals or any small group of participants on their journey of holistic living.

Yoga Therapy Intervention
The most important step in your journey with Yoga Therapy, where you will learn the history, the emergence of Yoga Therapy as a profession, the difference between a regular Yoga class and Yoga Therapy. It will outline your role as a Yoga Therapy practitioner and how you can do justice to it. Where you will also learn the ethics and the boundaries to be maintained as a Yoga Therapy teacher, with the necessary do’s and don’ts to be borne in the mind. With a special class on how to work with individuals (group and/or one-on-one).
When the body, mind are undergoing turmoil, there is neither steadiness nor easiness, but disorder prevails. To bring that balance of inner and outer world, a healthy body and mind is of the utmost requirement. In the 200hrs Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Course you will learn variations of therapeutic practices that bring ease to an underlying pain. From learning to dealing with spinal issues, joint pain, posture imbalance, etc. students become adept at recognising and creating a treatment plan.
Pranayama
Pranayama is the regulation of the vital force. In Yoga Therapy, we balance the imbalances of Pranamaya Kosha through various Pranayama practices. Pranamaya kosha acts as the bridge between other koshas. Mysore Yoga Therapy Academy will help the participants dive into the nuances of practicing minor and major Pranayama such as Sithali, Brahmari, Bhastrika, Nadi-Shodhana etc.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda was developed in India about 4,000 years ago and is one of the oldest documented health care systems. It is a “life-science,” emphasizing health by integrating ayurvedic herbal supplements, diet, exercise, massage and life style. In Sanskrit the word Ayurveda literally means science of life (Ayur = Life, Veda = Science). The benefits of Ayurvedic medicine have been proven over centuries of use, and its methodologies are as applicable. Students will learn to recognise and introduce Ayurvedic intervention as a part of their Yoga therapy session.
Yogic Philosophy
The ancient text such as ‘Bhagavad-Gita’ defined Yoga as “Samatvam Yoga Uchyate” meaning ‘Equanimity is called Yoga. Here at Mysore Yoga Therapy Academy we base our philosophy on this definition where we use the techniques of Yoga therapy to bring individuals into a state of physical, mental and spiritual balance. You will learn about Hatha Yoga Pradipika which talks about how we bring this balance into our day to day living.
Anatomy
A Yoga teacher, understands the basic anatomy of the body however, in Yoga therapy, you cannot even step into the circumference of therapy without an in-depth detail understanding of anatomy and physiology. Starting from the foundational study of anatomy, revising through the systems of the body to understanding how the function of an organ or the lack of it, even in the smallest way can have a domino effect on the rest of the body. Our anatomy experts help you cover those basic understandings that is required at the level of 200hrs training.
Meditation & Mantra Chanting
Bhakti Yoga finds its basis in undivided faith and is said to be the simplest way to self-realisation. To fight any disorder an individual need to foster this kind of faith as a support system. With Mantra chanting and Kirtan sessions, students immerse in a divine flow of serenity and peace. Along with guided meditation sessions with our teachers, students learn how to blend the benefit of meditation and mantra chanting in their session plan.
All 200hrs Yoga Therapy students have to undergo a 50hrs internship program, to be eligible for the certificate of completion.
